The RGLI Memorial Ride Group.

The RGLI Memorial Ride are a group of dedicated motorcycle enthusiasts based Guernsey who organise and undertake an annual pilgrimage to the battlefields of Northern France which includes locations where the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry were present during their service in World War One. Many of the participants are veterans from the armed and civil services community. The ride often goes twice per year, once in May, and a second dedicated set of riders who travel for the Sunday nearest 30th December and the annual memorial parade. Here they place a wreath at the RGLI memorial in France.

In addition they organise a number of local meetings within the island, where all are welcome to join.

The objectives of the group are continued commemoration, friendship and remembrance and  the group are pleased support the activities between Guernsey and France. 

 

The was founded in 2017 by Colin Vaudin and Martin Proudlove. The first visit was in May 2019 and following a two year gap due to global health restrictions they went again in May 2022 and also laid a wreath at the Menin Gate on behalf of Guernsey. they continue to this day.
