RGLI Autumn Dinner

This year's Autumn Dinner was held on Saturday 8th October and was an opportunity for old friends and new to get together and remember the events of the last twelve months.

It was also the setting for introducing the RGLI Memorial Ride 2023. Even more ambitious than previous year's in 2023 the ride will offer a selection of options to those taking part. The traditional pilgrimage to Masnieres, visiting the sister memorial to Guernsey' regiment, will be set as the norm.

However there will then be the option of continuing on the full ride taking in some of the well know events of World War Two. Operation Market Garden, the attempt by airborne troops in late 1944 to grab the main bridges across the Rhine that would lead to the Allies entering Germany quickly and so hopes of ending the war in 1944.

To set this in context the program was outlined by Colin Vaudin, using the below slides, then an after dinner talk was given by Chris Oliver as an overview of the battle, complete with airborne artefacts.

A huge thank you to Callum Le Noury and the staff at the Rocquettes Hotel.
