About the Event
To mark the one hundreth year since the departure of the regiment, a parade and service or rememberence was carried out on 4th June 2017. The parade consisting of members of the British & French Military, Cadet and School Groups, Musicians and Reenactors departed from Belevdere Field, St Petere Port (parade ground of the RGLI) and marched to St Peter Port Harbour. At the harbour His Excellency took the salute at a Royal Parade, together with the Bailiff and visiting members of the regional French government. A drum head service was conducted by the Dean of Guernsey. During the day a church service at the Town Church of St Peter Port (RGLIL home chapel) was conducted and the commemoration marked by the unvieling of a plaque recording the one hundreth anniversay of the Battalions departure.
