About the Event
As part of the commemorations marking the return home of the regiment and its disbandment, together with other military service men, the Trust unvieled the second (twin to the Masnieres) memorial on Subday 15th April 2018. The service was taken by the Dean of Guernsey, the Very Revered Tim Barker, in the presnece of the Lt Govenor and the Bailiff of Guernsey. The date appropriately marks the closest aspect to the RGLI at the Battle of Lys during 1918 near Doulieu, France. During the defence against the last German offensive of the war the regiment lost almost all its officers and men, with the final roll call being attended by 47.
