Creating the Memorials
As Guernsey-men lay in the field of France, the objective was to take a piece of Guernsey stone to them to mark their service and sacrifice. The Trust are indebted to Ronez Quarries for donating the stone on which the memorial was made.

About the Event
The picture shows the selection of the piece of Guernsey diarite stone on whch the inscription was written. This together with a second part to act as the base for the memorial now stands alone in Les Rue Vertes, Masnieres, France. (Pictured are Steve Roussel of Ronez, right and Chrsi Oliver, RGLI Trust)
